JEROME P. COLEMAN is an experienced trial lawyer defending matters in numerous federal and state courts for both labor and non-labor clients. He represents management exclusively in commercial litigation and labor and employment law, including matters before the National Labor Relations Board, various state and federal regulatory agencies, and arbitration venues, and is also the chairman of the firm’s Practice Group on trade secrets and noncompete agreements.
Mr. Coleman is a graduate of Princeton University, cum laude, and of Georgetown University Law School
Mr. Coleman started his career as an attorney-advisor for a member of the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, DC. His practice areas include counseling in labor and employee benefits, alternative dispute resolution, employment defense litigation, trade secrets and covenants not to compete, corporate investigations, and general commercial litigation.
Mr. Coleman has written extensively and lectured widely on these topics, has presented numerous CLE conferences, and has appeared as an expert commentator on various television, radio, and Internet programs, including CNN and Court TV, and in various national publications.
Mr. Coleman is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third circuits.
Mr. Coleman is a member of the New York State Bar Association (former Executive Committee, and Chairman, Labor Arbitration Committee), and the American Bar Association (Corporate Counsel Committee, Litigation Section). He is the former president of The University Club, New York City and his class at Princeton. He is a governor of the University Cottage Club; Vice-Chairman of the Archdiocesan Inner-City Schools Committee (Lawyer's Division); a Director of the Quogue Association, and a Director of the Southampton Aquatic Recreation Corporation. He achieved a Crystal Peabody Award for pro bono work in 2006 and was honored as Empire State Counsel by the New York State Bar Association in 2008. Mr. Coleman has been listed in Marquis' Who's Who in American Law since 1997, and was recently named a New York Super Lawyer by Law and Politics Magazine, and a New York City selection for the "Which Lawyer?" directory of the Practical Law Company, London, England.
