MARK A. HERNANDEZ joined the firm in July 1996 and practices in its Labor & Employment practice group. Mr. Hernandez routinely advises clients regarding National Labor Relations Act issues, union avoidance, union campaigns and elections and collective bargaining issues. In addition, Mr. Hernandez is well versed in dealing with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. Mr. Hernandez represents clients in both federal and state courts, as well as administrative forums, in actions based upon federal civil rights laws, including Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as the New York State and City Human Rights Law. Mr. Hernandez also provides clients with supervisory and management training to recognize, prevent and rectify sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Mr. Hernandez received his law degree from The Dickinson School of Law in 1994 and attended Fordham University School of Law as a visiting student. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Albany in 1991. While attending Dickinson, Mr. Hernandez was a Senior Editor of the Dickinson Journal of International Law, authoring the publication "RU-486; Safe? Effective? Banned! Why Would The Food and Drug Administration Ban a Drug With Such Potential?" 11 Dick J. Int'l L. 653 (1993). Mr. Hernandez is licensed to practice law in the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York as well as for the District of New Jersey and the United States Tax Court. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the New York State Bar Association.
